Sports in Vidisha

Sports ensures that a person is fit and healthy. It also keeps the mind sharp and teaches various lessons of confidence, competitiveness, team spirit etc. Physical dexterity is important to be able to play a sport well. Vidisha, being a small town in Madhya Pradesh is not very highly popular for any sport, but like any other small town in India, some sports like cricket are played with a lot of enthusiasm and passion.

One sport that is played in house compounds, empty plots, on streets and parks in India is cricket. It is an extremely popular sport amongst the youth and the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) is one of the Premier Cricket Governing provincial units affiliated to The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). MPCA's vision is to nurture and develop young talent to face the tough competition and play on the international circuit. In Vidisha, there is a Vidisha Cricket Club that plays tournaments and matches at a local level.

Vidisha is not very cosmopolitan in nature and hence the prevalence of many sports is not there. Children and youth do play the sports that interest them but these are not conducted in any organized way via coaching classes etc. The S.S.L. Jain P.G. College in Vidisha teaches many sports including:
