Vidisha is an is an emerging city situated in the northern part of the state of Madhya Pradesh. The Nagar Palika and many private and non government organizations work together for social upliftment and welfare causes. Their services are meant for the weaker section of society like physically handicapped, secluded aged senior citizens, mentally challenged people, women and children who are not capable of taking care of themselves. The main aim of these societies is to provide free shelter, food and medical treatment to the needy. With these great initiatives they aims to bring positive change in the society.

In Vidisha charitable societies like Vidisha Social Welfare Organization and many others work towards various social causes like the upliftment of poor, working with the destitute sections of society, education to kids, shelter and health facilities to senior citizens, rural development, blood donations etc. Many large individual donors and companies make donations for the functioning of NGOs or Non-Government Organizations and they operate in a completely transparent manner with respect to utilization of the funds provided to them.

The need for protection and upliftment of children is very high as they are the future citizens of the country and are most susceptible to be affected by poverty and communal or criminal acts. Child welfare organizations work towards children's education, training, nutrition, health, drug rehabilitation, protection and also try and provide safe homes or shelters for orphan children. Women's empowerment is a right that should be ensured not only as a human right but also for the overall healthy development of a state. It is important to empower women by facilitating education, training and work culture amongst them. This can be made possible by running centers exclusively for women to learn the English language, skill training centers to learn vocations that can help them earn a livelihood for themselves and therefore more self respect.

At the town level in India, some of these initiatives get funded by private organizations and some by the government. It is also important to ensure women oriented counsellors to help them come out of instances of negligence and ill-treatment.
